Important to Know About Leather:
Creating leather cushions requires special skills and equipment. Leather sewing demands industrial machines designed specifically for thick materials, as standard machines can’t handle it. Leather is unforgiving—once pierced, holes are permanent, requiring precise and careful craftsmanship. Additionally, leather comes in hides, not yards, which can lead to waste and affects sizing, especially for larger cushions.
To Get an Accurate Quote, Please Provide:
A) Exact cushion measurements: width, length, thickness, and quantity. If cushions are irregularly shaped, please include photos.
B) Large cushions may require seams, often decorative, due to hide size limitations. If so, options will be presented.
C) Preferences for piping or stitching details.
Dimensions:
Overall size: 40" W x 12" D x 2" T
Ties (3 total): 10.5" long
Weight: 5.25 lbs
Care & Maintenance:
-
Avoid detergents, polishes, saddle soaps, or preservatives as they strip natural oils.
-
Dust or vacuum regularly.
-
Keep away from direct sunlight to prevent fading or discoloration.
-
Wipe spills immediately with a soft white cloth dampened in a mild soap and water solution (3 parts water, 1 part gentle soap). For deeper stains, gently massage with lukewarm water and a soft cloth, then blot dry and air dry.
-
Minor surface scratches usually fade with gentle rubbing using fingertips, which helps redistribute wax. Deeper scratches may not fully disappear.
Materials & Construction:
Our cushions are made from semi-aniline leather, featuring full-grain or top-grain hides dyed with transparent, non-toxic dyes. No pigmented finishes are applied, allowing the natural grain and character to shine through. Color variations and natural markings are unique to each hide, adding charm and authenticity. These qualities set genuine leather apart from synthetic materials and uniform pigmented leathers.
Our leather appeals to those who appreciate the natural patina and unique markings of high-quality aniline leather. If you prefer a perfectly uniform color and texture, heavily pigmented leather may be more suitable.
